The Cost of Wrong Picks

Every mispick costs more than the part. It costs the rework, the delay, the customer trust, and the time to find it.

Manual kitting relies on memory and tribal knowledge.

Experienced operators know the bins. New hires don't. When your best picker calls in sick, accuracy drops. When demand spikes, accuracy drops worse.

Paper pick lists don't prevent errors. They document them.

A printed BOM tells you what to pick. It doesn't stop you from picking wrong. You find out downstream — at assembly, at test, or at the customer.

Wired pick-to-light systems cost $50K+ and take months.

Traditional error-proofing means conduit, wiring, PLC integration, and a systems integrator. Most SMEs never start because the project is too big.

What GuideNode Is

A standard product, not a custom project.

Wireless guidance nodes

Battery-powered devices that mount on bins, shelves, or workstations. LED indicator, optional buzzer, optional confirmation button. No wiring. No infrastructure changes.

Step-by-step operator guidance

Load a job. The system lights the next bin. Operator picks, confirms, moves to next step. Every pick is logged with a timestamp.

CSV-driven configuration

Import your BOM or kit list as a CSV. Map columns to bin locations. Run. No programming, no integrator, no project plan.

Local-first with optional cloud

Runs on your local network. No internet dependency. Optional BXNode integration for remote monitoring and analytics when you need it.

What GuideNode Is Not

Not a custom integration project

GuideNode is a product you buy, configure with a CSV, and deploy in hours. Not months.

Not a consumer gadget

Industrial-grade hardware. Battery life measured in months, not hours. Designed for factory floors, not living rooms.

Not a wired pick-to-light system

No conduit. No PLC. No electrician. Wireless means you can move, reconfigure, and scale without infrastructure changes.

Not tied to a specific ERP or MES

Works with whatever system produces your pick lists. Excel export, ERP output, or custom CSV — it doesn't matter.

Three Steps. Zero Complexity.

From box to running system in the same day.

1Configure

Import Your Kit List

Upload a CSV with your BOM or pick sequence. Map part numbers to bin locations. The system validates and confirms your configuration.

2Deploy

Place the Nodes

Magnetic mount or adhesive backing. Place a GuideNode on each bin or workstation location. The gateway auto-discovers devices on the network.

3Execute

Run the Job

Start a job. The correct node lights up. Operator picks and confirms. Next step lights. Every action logged. Job complete.

Five Applications. One System.

GuideNode works wherever an operator needs to pick the right part from the right place in the right order.

Kitting for Electronics Assembly

Challenge

High-mix BOMs with similar-looking components. Wrong passives, wrong package sizes, wrong tape reels.

How GuideNode Helps

Light the correct bin for each line item. Confirm each pick. Log completion. Hand off a verified kit to the line.

Box Build & Final Assembly

Challenge

Multi-step assembly sequences where missing one component means rework or scrap.

How GuideNode Helps

Step-by-step guidance through the build sequence. Button confirmation at each stage. Catches omissions before they become customer escapes.

SMT Post-Processing

Challenge

After reflow, boards need specific accessories, labels, or secondary components matched to the correct job.

How GuideNode Helps

Job-linked guidance for post-SMT operations. The right label, the right accessory, the right packaging for each board lot.

Line-Side Picking

Challenge

Production lines need the right parts at the right station at the right time. Manual replenishment creates shortages and overstock.

How GuideNode Helps

Replenishment guidance for line-side inventory. Operators pick what the line needs next, not what they think it needs.

Packaging & Shipping

Challenge

Wrong quantities, wrong accessories, wrong documentation shipped to customers.

How GuideNode Helps

Guided packing sequences ensure every box contains exactly what the order specifies. Complete logging for traceability and dispute resolution.

Not Wired. Not Expensive. Not Complicated.

GuideNode fills the gap between paper pick lists and $50K+ wired systems.

If you have the budget for a wired system, you probably already have one. If you don't, GuideNode is how you get error-proofing without the project.

Calculate Your Error-Proofing ROI

See what wrong picks, rework, and customer escapes are actually costing your operation — and what GuideNode saves.

Our ROI calculator uses your actual production data to estimate:

  • Annual cost of kitting errors based on your defect rate
  • Rework hours and material waste
  • Customer escape risk and warranty exposure
  • Payback period — typical results show 6–12 month payback

Automatic job scheduling from BXNode workflow rules

Error analytics and trend detection over time

Integration with existing ERP, MES, or quality systems via BXNode connectors

Centralized logging and audit trail across your entire operation

GuideNode is a complete product on its own. BXNode integration is an option, not a requirement. Start with GuideNode. Connect when you're ready.

Questions

Is this just a pick-to-light system?

Traditional pick-to-light requires wired connections to each bin, PLC integration, and professional installation. GuideNode is wireless, battery-powered, and configured via CSV import. No electrician, no integrator, no project plan. It provides pick-to-light functionality without the pick-to-light project.

Does it require an MES or ERP?

No. GuideNode operates from CSV files. If your system can export a BOM or pick list to CSV or Excel, GuideNode can import it. MES/ERP integration is optional through the BXNode platform.

How long do the batteries last?

Battery life depends on brightness settings and duty cycle. In typical production environments with standard 8-hour shifts, nodes are designed to last 6–12 months before battery replacement. Batteries are standard format and user-replaceable.

What is the wireless range?

50–100 meters depending on the factory environment. Metal shelving, concrete walls, and RF interference affect range. The Max kit includes two gateways for redundant coverage across larger facilities.

What about wireless interference in our factory?

GuideNode uses a protocol designed for industrial environments. It operates reliably alongside Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and other factory wireless systems. We recommend a site survey for facilities with known RF challenges.

Is this FCC/ISED certified?

GuideNode is designed to operate within FCC (US) and ISED (Canada) regulatory requirements for industrial wireless devices. Contact us for current certification documentation.

Can multiple jobs run simultaneously?

Yes. Pro and Max kits support multi-job queuing. Different jobs can run on different zones of the facility at the same time.

What happens if a node fails?

The system detects node failures and alerts supervisors. Replacement nodes can be hot-swapped without reconfiguring the system. No downtime for the rest of the network.

Can I add more nodes later?

Yes. Additional nodes are available in packs of 10. The gateway auto-discovers new devices on the network. No system reconfiguration needed.

Is it suitable for ESD-sensitive environments?

GuideNode is designed for electronics manufacturing environments. Contact us for specific ESD documentation for your requirements.
